Stretch ceiling
The ceiling sags, or the pipework is in plain sight and cannot be moved. A stretch ceiling is a made-to-measure sheet pulled taut in a profile, across the whole room.
How it works
The sheet is made to measure and pulled into an aluminium or plastic profile with a harpoon system. The whole thing is demountable, so the pipes, ducts and fittings behind the ceiling stay reachable.
Up to roughly 50 m² goes in as one sheet. SPANdesign divides larger rooms into panels. Installation needs very little depth and puts no extra load on the existing structure.
Colour and finish
The foil comes in many colours, in gloss, matt and suede. Also translucent and light-transmitting, so lighting can sit behind the sheet.
Printing is possible, and the shape is not limited to a flat plane. Horizontal, vertical, curved, angled and 3D are all available.
Which sheet for which room
Every sheet has the same quality and strength. The difference is in the build-up. A translucent sheet passes light, a perforated sheet absorbs sound, and the bioproof sheet has a composition bacteria cannot get a hold on.
That last one was made for healthcare. Which sheet you need depends on what is going on in the room.

What are the design options?
Our stretch solutions have countless applications across all kinds of styles. The number of shapes is unlimited: horizontal, vertical, curved, angled and 3D. There is a wide choice of colour and pattern, and the systems come in many versions.
What does modular mean?
Our stretch solutions can be taken down and put back up without limit. They combine with lighting, climate control and sprinkler systems. All our stretch products are flexible and shatterproof, are fitted at minimal depth, and are made to measure for each individual room.
Can it handle damp?
Yes. The ceilings can be installed in wet and humid environments. The foil provides a vapour barrier and a decorative, maintenance-free finish in damp rooms.
Can lighting be integrated?
Yes. Light fittings can be integrated into a SPANdesign stretch ceiling. Transparent and light-transmitting ceilings give diffuse light. The light ceilings reach around 76% light transmission and suit fluorescent fittings, LED modules and projection.
How large can a single sheet be?
Up to roughly 50 m² we make a ceiling from one sheet. Larger surfaces are divided into panels. All foils are available with different perforations, and all our products have been tested by TNO to fire class 1.
What does a stretch ceiling cost, roughly?
Most projects we take on are between 20,000 and 50,000 euro, and large halls and swimming pools run to 100,000 to 250,000 euro. What your room costs depends on its area, its shape and what has to sit in the ceiling. We do not take on a project under 20,000 euro.
